Getting kids ready to ski is half the battle. Boots that pinch, skis that are too long and a long line at the rental counter can sink a ski day before it starts. At Vista Bahn, we have been fitting young skiers in Vail Village since 1977, just 18 steps from Gondola One, and we make kids ski rentals simple for the whole family.

Tips for renting kids skis in Vail
- Pick up the night before. Bring the kids in after 4:30 p.m. the evening before your first ski day. Fitting tired kids at 8 a.m. is nobody’s idea of fun.
- Have their details ready. Height, weight, shoe size and ability level help us fit them quickly. Not sure of their size? That’s fine, we’ll measure.
- Dress them in one pair of thin ski socks. Thick or doubled socks make boots fit worse, not warmer.
- Add a helmet. We strongly recommend a helmet for every young skier, and rental helmets are available with any package.
- Bring a physical credit card. It is required for every rental.
Renting for the whole family? We have adult ski rentals at every level, demo skis for parents who want the latest models, and adult snowboard rentals. Please note we do not rent kids’ snowboards.

How much are kids ski rentals in Vail?
At Vista Bahn, the Junior package is $36 per day for skis and poles, or $42.40 per day with boots, when you reserve online. That is 20% off the walk-in rates of $45 and $53. A helmet adds $9.60 per day online.
What size skis do kids need?
Our junior skis run from about 70 to 140 cm. You do not need to know your child’s size to reserve; just bring them in and our techs will fit them based on height, weight and ability.
Do you rent kids snowboards?
No. We rent adult snowboards only, but we have a full selection of junior skis, boots and helmets.
Can we pick up kids rentals the night before?
Yes. Come in after 4:30 p.m. the evening before your first ski day so the kids can be fitted without the morning rush.
